Exciting News!

Some of you might remember that I said I was going away during this past weekend as part of the theatre troop that was staging this year’s Christmas play at another city. It was the first time I was leaving my one-and-a-half year old son behind. I was away for a couple of nights, but my little one was perfectly happy with his father. It was lovely, though, to see his broad smile when he saw me, and this was one of the few times I clung to him as much as he clung to me! (…for ages that is.  I get terribly bad back aches if I carry my son for more than a few minutes. He’s quite a heavy little baby.) Ever since I got to B– I’d been waiting to get back home and hug my baby. So, yesterday’s reunion was sweet! My husband took an adorable video of my son’s reaction when he first saw me.

So, back home, with baby and husband, and I thought my day was made. BUT…but… we now have a new addition to our little family! I have never been an animal lover. While I love to admire animals from afar, and really find them cute, I’ve always been terrified of anything that was not human. Having said that, yesterday, at our church charity sale, a family had brought a fluffy white Lhasa Apso for auction. He was so small…only 38 days old. I fell in love with him the moment I saw him. My husband had been pestering me for awhile, about getting a dog so that our little one would grow up with animals. I’d been holding him off because I wasn’t too sure if I could handle both a baby and a little dog, especially as I knew nothing about handling animals! (and yes, I was fine with getting a dog sometime in the future…) But, ickle Mark (that’s what we’ve named the fur-ball) was so adorable I decided, what the heck! So now we have an ickle pup as well, sleeping peacefully in the bedroom at the moment. My son is excited, my husband is thrilled, and I’m just bowled over! I’m a little frightened of getting things wrong in terms of training Mark (I was never frightened about my son!…I always seemed to know what to do with a baby), but I’m learning very very quickly.

I realise I’ve rambled on quite a bit over something that only needed a line like “I’VE GOT A PUPPY!”…but then, of what use is a line like that? :D

Hope you’ve all been having a lovely weekend. I’m trying to catch up on all the posts I’ve missed reading, and all the comments that people have been leaving at my blogs. I’ll be responding to the latter as soon as possible. :)
